Gorilla’s Coffee attracts coffee lovers from all corners of the world. For those keen to see the journey of our coffee, enjoy a fresh drop or take home Made in Rwanda souvenirs, a visit to our roastery is an amazing experience.
Former PSG Goalkeeper, Bernard Lama, and Miss France 2017 Alicia Aylies, visited Rwanda as part of the 19th gorilla naming ceremony known as Kwita Izina, one of Africa’s biggest celebrations of conservation. During their time in Rwanda, they paid a visit to the Gorilla’s Coffee roastery in Kigali – the largest in East Africa. Our Managing Director, Donal Murphy, and Sales and Marketing Manager, Aaron Rutayisire, warmly welcomed them and shared insights on the company and its mission.

Bernard and Alicia toured Gorilla’s Coffee and learned each step of the coffee production process – from harvesting the cherries to roasting the beans. They also learned that Gorilla’s Coffee only roasts high quality green coffee beans carefully grown by Rwandan farmers.
As the visitors explored the facility, they were amazed by the roasting technology utilised by Gorilla’s Coffee. The tour offered an opportunity to understand how each step contributes to the excellence of the final product.
In the world of coffee, taste and quality matter. Our certified roasting expert and coffee cupper, Brian Murenzi, guided them through a coffee tasting session, showing how each type of roast brings out distinct flavours. Dark roasts give strong intensity, medium roasts offer a balanced taste, and light roasts provide a delicate sweetness.

Before the end of the tour, Bernard and Alicia learned that Gorilla’s Coffee isn’t just about coffee but also communities and protecting our planet. They got insights on the company’s commitment to sustainability, which is one of the things that makes the brand stand out.
As they wrapped up their tour, they were presented with special Made in Rwanda souvenirs.
